Provide Family Relief: Moments of Happiness will sponsor local community events that give children the opportunity to spend time with volunteers dressed as characters from famous children’s books. The recipients of our services are families with children undergoing serious or long-term medical care. Moments of Happiness volunteers will visit children at the hospital, clinic, or place of care, dressed as a storybook character. Volunteers may also distribute books to the children as gifts and read aloud from a particular book. The goal is to provide the family with a moment of relief from the stress and challenges of their child’s illness. It is intended that the organization’s actions will foster hope and peace in the patient.

Community Fundraising: Donations will be solicited from individuals and businesses, specifically in Northern California. Funds will be used to purchase costumes, pay overhead expenses, and if necessary to pay staff to maintain a successful non-profit organization.

Corporate Sponsorship: The organization will establish relationships with corporate contributions committees of local businesses to request funding and volunteers. Corporate sponsors will be identified in each book donated to the recipient children. Corporate volunteers to dress up as storybook characters and deliver the books to each child.

Business Development: The organization will build relationships with hospital administrators and nursing staff to facilitate the donation visits.
Criteria for Selecting Recipients:

1. Pediatric Staff of a particular hospital or clinic will provide Moments of Happiness informational brochure to each potential recipient.

2. The recipient will then advise the pediatric nursing staff that they would like to request a visit from Moments of Happiness.

3. The pediatric staff approves each recipient based on health evaluation and emotional need.

4. Moments of Happiness will coordinate with the pediatric staff to create a visitation schedule.
